Senator Joseph Lieberman has decided that, rather than caucusing with Democrats or Republicans in the 109th Congress, he will caucusing with himself, and “keeping my own counsel.  Keeping an open mind.  Trying to rise above the partisan rancor,” he told reporters Thursday.  Though there are no other members of his current party, titled “Connecticut for Lieberman,” in Congress now, he is hoping to recruit candidates to run under the party in the 2008 election, and is hoping figures like former Presidential Candidate H. Ross Perot will express interest in the ticket.  “Either Perot, or possibly, Jesse Ventura, if he hasn’t grown too tired of politics.  Other independent thinkers.  How about Lowell Weicker?  Or (late Senator) Paul Wellstone?”

This latest example of a political calculation that is out-of-step with the national electorate is only serving to fuel long-held speculation that Lieberman is actually Geoge Bush.
