Terrorists deny using “weakening of American resolve” as a rationale for planning future terror attacks

Terrorist leaders, at their regular conference, said in their keynote speech, that the presence or absence of American resolve in staying the course in Iraq has little if any effect on whether they plan to pursue future attacks, according to a transcript smuggled out of Qatar and leaked to the Associated Press.

This is in contrast to claims by Vice President Dick Cheney.

Cheney recently referenced an intelligence intercept of the Al Qaeda symposium brochure that touted an opening statement addressing “America’s Weakening Resolve,” but the real brochure says future regular meetings should be held at “Amer Hatta’s Weekend Resorts.”  Cheney had misread a fairly cursory translation of the document.

It is another set-back for the White House messaging, after last week’s denial by major terror figures that they hate America for their freedoms, but are indeed actually only a little miffed by them.

To date, the “don’t let the enemy see a weakening resolve” argument has been key to the rationale for fighting to continue in Iraq.
