A newly energized right wing of the Republican party is impatient with President Bush and his efforts to bridge differences with the French at the UN on a resolution to end fighting in the Lebanese-Israeli conflict. They are coming out against Bush’s efforts towards conciliation and appeasement with enemies in the Middle East. “He promised us he would bomb someone, at least one of the enemy countries, and then maybe Lebanon later” said commentator Bill Kristol. “Now I feel like we should bomb France too.”

“Especially sinced the foiled London bombing,” New Gingrich intoned from Hannity and Colmes last night.  “The time is ripe to finally show that the United States does not take terrorist threats lightly, and that we have them on the run.  For all we know, Bin Laden is sipping a cappucino in a French cafe somewhere.

“Many intelligence sources I consult with regulary have said this.  It was a much safer place for him than the hills in Tora Bora anyway, and he has probably been in Paris having kidney dialysis for years.  Why should they be excused if they are aiding and abetting a known enemy of the United States?”
