President Bush has come under increased scrutiny and criticism by mainstream conservative thinkers for his dove-like approach to international events in the last six months.

Many are questioning his “standing back” position on the violence in the Middle East, where many are itching for a fight, as well as on Iran and North Korea who have nuclear ambitions, Russia and China, who oppose US initiatives at the UN, and even Brussels, who many are now referring to as “a tinderbox in the making,” because of the threat of the new Euro monetary system.

“I don’t know why he doesn’t nuke Brussels, and then the whole Middle East, and be done with it,” said Bill Bennett Saturday.
“He forgets the Truman doctrine, ‘it’s okay to bomb our enemies sometimes,’…it’s something like that.  I forget the exact words.”

He runs the risk of alienating his base, say many in the conservative community.  “I think he is forgetting the age old phrase, ‘you dance with the girl who brung ya’,” Newt Gingrich intoned from an editorial in the Washington Post on Sunday.
