The combined intelligence services headed by intelligence czar John Negoroponte, did not anticipate the rise of Hamas in Palestine, the aggressive new nuclear ambitions in Iran, or the North Korean missile launch “because our plate was a little full at the time, actually,” Negoroponte explained at Senate Intelligence hearings Friday.

He complained of problems deciphering information from known data-mining work, going through diplomatic channels via Condoleeza Rices efforts abroad, and at the same time understanding complicated intelligence information from operatives in the field, something he describes as quite a lot of multi-tasking.
